Sunday Picture Post: Back to the Green Ways

Oh Yay! I can travel by bus again. And so… out to Acle and a walk to Burlingham Woods, almost entirely by green lanes and farmland

25 June 2020

White campion: 25 June 2020

White campion was everywhere. But could only take pics where it was in the shade else the white bleached out

Poppies: 25 June 2020

Poppies too were everywhere

Ripening grain: 25 June 2020

A beautiful sight. Let’s hope the heavens hold off their summer storms until the farmer gets the harvest in

Knapweed: 25 June 2020

This really shows the strength of the sun. Phew!!!

Teasels: 25 June 2020

Teasels grow around here in enormous patches… the legacy of the weaving industry

The second half of the walk next week… cos I haven’t yet finished prepping the photos

Woodland Lights

Woodland: 25 June 2020

Finally allowed on the buses, got out of town for a ‘countryside’ walk, down the green lanes to the woods…

The Ocean Tide

My love is like the ocean tide
Sweeping in, knocking and toppling all in his way
To lap at the highest reach which is my heart.
But no sooner here than he turns again
And with an awful tug he says farewell, he has to go,
Only to return again.
And so the cycle goes.

Is there a cease to this?
Might he remain?
One day?
Some day?
Ever?
Or must he ever pull at me
To tear and to destroy this shore

CCC85: A Coded Message

Crimson’s Creative Challege

So long he’d been gone
I thought him never to return
And if he did, surely my father would tell him to go
Send him away before I ever knew
I had to devise some means
A coded message
A way to tell him my love held true

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #85

CCC#85

Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN

Here’s how it works:

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • An answering photo
  • A cartoon
  • A joke
  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours
  • Your writing is kept to 150 words or less

If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN.

Our Self-Induced Illusions

I might have taken to penning romance, but here’s my answer to those who seek to see a transformation

Crispina’s Photo: 18 June 2020

What lies delight us
How eager to believe our self-induced illusions
That here is love and here is truth
And here is the answer to a prayer
So keen to lap at this glittering feast
Not wanting to see this…this focus of our intense affection
Is nothing but our own projection

A Free Spirit, Me

Photo by Vishnu R on Pixabay

A free spirit he called me
That’s what I am
Then complained when I gallivanted
Out of season, out of time and mind

A free spirit, he said me
But I cut him to the quick
When my gallivanting
Stole me away to the local nick

Sunday Picture Post: Out of Town

Still confined to places reached by foot… yet the sun is bringing out the flowers and the bees…

Cranesfoot: 17 June 2020

A tiny, tiny flower, often lost to sight by bigger flowers overhanging

Meadow Brown: 17 June 2020

Meadow Brown butterfly where it ought to be… in a meadow

Opium Poppy: 17 June 2020

I don’t usually take photos of garden escapees… this one was divine

Bramble & bee: 17 June 2020

The blackberry brambles now are full of bloom, and noisy as these little boney-beasts dive in

Foxgloves: 17 June 2020

The foxgloves have grown so tall since my last visit two weeks ago

Bindweed and bee: 17 June 2020

Not a flower left unvisited, bees burying their heads in every bloom

Breydon Water: 17 June 2020

And home again.

Breydon means Wide Plain or Wide Valley. That very pale grey line in the far distance (not the green) represents the old shoreline when this was the Great Estuary. Behind me is another mile or so of marsh which also was the old estuary. Everything changes with time.

The Turn of the Year

image by Howard Wish on pixabay

Come join our hands
Come touch the sky
Come dance the dance
And thread the stones
Rejoice this day
The sun stands high
For on the morrow she cannot stay
Her southern lover draws her away

Early Morning in Town

Greyfriar’s Way: 19 June 2020

Yesterday, took the small camera shopping with me. In its day, this was a road a hundred pubs. Now there are only two. The road runs alongside the town hall.
