Continuing our walk of 21st October. From atop Mousehold Heath we now descend through the trees and down to the river. The mist has cleared. The sun shines from a clouded sky. Enjoy…
The trees are late in turning colour this year; we’re noticing it everywhere
Just a yellowing of leaves… even the bracken is retaining its colour away from the sun
Ah! But this hidden flame is surely an ‘alien’ maple! It’s on the edge of the heath, close to gardens
River Wensum… and her swans (5 cygnets, seen several times this summer as we’ve passed along the river)
A riverside walk skirts the cathedral grounds
Looking towards Bishopsgate Bridge, the oldest surviving bridge in town
We must leave the river to cross the bridge…
Norwich cathedral, as seen across the cathedral school playing fields
Iconic Pulls Ferry, graces every calendar that features Norwich. The ferryman Pull provided a vehicle crossing at this place
And so to return home by bus. A thoroughly enjoyable day. Hope you enjoyed too. Next week we’re heading into farmland…and woods! Hope you’ll join me then
