CCC211: Trevor’s Day Out

Trevor was a fisherman’s tractor
He lived on the shore by the sea
But Trevor’s boss was heading inland
So Trevor begged him, please take me.
Away from the sea there were no waves
With no boat to pull up and down the beach
Trevor didn’t know how to behave
And so, beset by shyness, Trevor hid behind a tree.

Tuesday Treats: Colour in Details

The details, mostly colourful, from our walk on 26th October 2022. Enjoy

And to begin, yes, there are still flowers in bloom

26th October 2022

26th October 2022

Unexpected, a dragonfly

26th October 2022

Oh, those poisonous berries, still hanging around!

26th October 2022

More berries, this time rowan…

26th October 2022

26th October 2022

Red seems to be the colour of the day

26th October 2022

26th October 2022

26th October 2022

Sloes… much in demand these days due to the craze for gin

26th October 2022

And a lone flower to end with

That’s all folks… until next weekend

Sunday Picture Post: Tyrrell’s Wood

26th October we catch a bus into Norwich, and another out to Long Stratton, a small town that straddles an old Roman Road. From there by lane, path and track, we head to Tyrrell’s Wood.

26th October 2022

By lane and path…

26th October 2022

Autumnal colour is beginning to show

26th October 2022

And down a private road to a farm…

26th October 2022

Where a horse insists I take its photo!

26th October 2022

Past the farm and over the common. Commons are common in this part of Norfolk. The houses edging it are old

26th October 2022

Another lane, this with open views across the fields

26th October 2022

And we arrive at Tyrrell’s Wood. This comprises 5 smaller woods, the oldest recorded in 1251 as Boscus de Grischave

26th October 2022

26th October 2022

It doesn’t matter how many times we visit, we always get lost

26th October 2022

26th October 2022

26th October 2022

We stop to munch our lunch. And it rains. Heavy. Oh well, best we find our way out of here…

Hope you enjoyed. See Tuesday Treats for some colourful details

Heaven

I love to stop
And who would not
For a five-minute browse
Forgetting the time
As I scan the spines
Selecting at random
With exquisite abandon
That will carry me over
Till my next stop
At the Bibliopole’s shop

CCC210: Plenty Entities

If you go down to the woods today
You’d best beware of the fay
Though the fay aren’t the worst
Trolls rate as first
Trolls will break that table and chairs
Pixies, now, to reach them would take them years
Oh yes, if you go down to the woods today
You’d better take care
For you’ll find plenty entities to spark your fears

Tuesday Treat: Late October in the Garden

As the title says, photos of the flowers that paint my garden in glorious colours this late October. Hope you like them as much as I do (this is my first full year with the garden!)

28th October 2022

28th October 2022

These chrysanthemums were bought last year as indoor pot plants but once they’d finished flowering I planted them out. Delighted to see not only did they survive the winter, and our drought, but now they’re flowering in such profusion

28th October 2022

The rose bush, resident when I moved in, is very old, but she has put forth such a crop of blooms this summer, and still she has buds waiting to unfurl

28th October 2022

Marigold in the sun…looks like the sun itself has taken residence here

28th October 2022

More sunny flowers…

28th October 2022

28th October 2022

As you might guess, I’m pleased with my garden. It has far exceeded my plans!
