CCC#78

Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN

Here’s how it works:

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • An answering photo
  • A cartoon
  • A joke
  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours
  • Your writing is kept to 150 words or less

If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN.

CCC77: A Norfolk Cob Cottage

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #77

Widow Cob and the spinster Daff
Together cobbling a crafty craft
A wily web stretched across the path
To snag unwary pedlers as they pass
Bind him, cocoon him, store him for later
Suck out his blood, his plasma, his water
Leave him a husk, a convenient cob
Cob upon cob upon cob upon cob
Builds to a new cottage for Thingamabob.

The cob in cobweb means a lump, as are the cobs from which cob cottages are built.

The Fabric of Life: An Observation

image by Sabine Van Erp on pixabay

The fabric of life of late has frayed
Lost is the self-edge that should waylay it
Warped and teased with covert intent to unravel
According to those who conspiracies see
No longer a cloth to support the living
Now more a winding-sheet for the dead
The fabric of life comprises less of spirit
And more of diets, tissues and fears
Comprises less of community
And more of distance, arm’s length, keep away
Comprises less of social cohesions
And more of social suspicions
The fabric of life requires a new spinner
Who is older and wiser with solutions tried if never tested
It requires a clipper with sharp shears
To snip the snags before they grow and undo us
The fabric of life, with chain-stitched seams
Will yet contain us. We pray.

Sunday Picture Post: Springtime Blues

These photos need no introduction other than to say they were taken on 23rd April last year (2019)

Green Alkanet

Forget-me-nots

English Bluebells

In a Bluebell Wood

Every year since moving from here (back in 1983) I’ve returned for the bluebells. But not this year; to do so requires two journeys by public transport. Classed as not essential.
