These photos need no introduction other than to say they were taken on 23rd April last year (2019)
Every year since moving from here (back in 1983) I’ve returned for the bluebells. But not this year; to do so requires two journeys by public transport. Classed as not essential.

Thank you, Deborah. It was a toss-up. Blue or white. Maybe the white flowers will get an outing next week. π

I don’t often get to see a field of wildflowers like that, how lovely! The color is so cheerful. Just perfect for a spring time mood.

That’s what I thought. It was a close call; I have some interest white blooms, photos taken the same day. Next Sunday’s post, maybe π

I’m glad to know what a bluebell is because I’ve always like Watership Down and the rabbit Bluebell.

These are English bluebells. The ones that grow in English gardens tend to be Spanish bluebells. The English species is an indication of an ancient woodland… even if the woodland is no long extant. The woodland host to these plants is recorded in Domesday Book as a *chase* in the hold of Count Alan (a Breton), and had been part of the earls’ estate since the beginning of C10th. It has history.
