A Bit of a Slip

Come closer and hush
I don’t want to make you blush
You know that lady at number ten
I heard she went to the beautician’s
She went for her ‘tash, her upper lip
That’s what she said
But somewhere the words got mixed
It wasn’t her lip but her beard that was waxed
She was telling me, all of a rush
Don’t know where to put her face, she says
Still a ‘tash on her lip
But cos of the slip
She’s no brush on her tush

Sunday Picture Post: No Apologies, Sea & Surf

Last week we left the walk at Crazy Mary’s Hole that marks the transition of Kessingland & Pakefield and a marked difference in beach. Now to complete the walk. And as the title says, I make no apologies: This is mostly sand, surf and sea. Enjoy…

From a distance, Crazy Mary’s Hole: 23 Sept 2021

Continuation of cliffs but now it’s a soft sandy shore: 23 Sept 2021

23 Sept 2021

Our sea is usually churning sand. This is fantastically clean: 23 Sept 2021

North Sea? This could be the Caribbean: 23 Sept 2021

Wind turbine in distance marks most easterly point of Gt Britain (Lowestoft Ness): 23 Sept 2021

Kirkley, a fishing community: 23 Sept 2021

On the distant horizon a cruise ship heads to the Norwegian fjords: 23 Sept 2021

Atop the cliff, a thatched church; windows date to Tudor period: 23 Sept 2021

The tide is high: 23 Sept 2021

Lowestoft beach & our destination: 23 Sept 2021

23 Sept 2021

Hope you’ve enjoyed. Not many flowers seen on this stage of the walk. Therefore Tuesday Treat this week will be… ah, no, you’ll just have wait and see

CCC152: A Love-Lost Lass

Whose heart is this upon the shore?
Some distraught lass who’ll love no more
Her sailor-man has gone to sea
His ship is lost
She’s left to grieve
Now sadness bids me also leave
For that love-lost lass you know as me

Crimson’s Creative Challenge 152

Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN

Here’s how it works:

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours

If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN

Sunday Picture Post: Dunes, Cliffs (and Sea)

23rd September we jump on a bus to Lowestoft. Excellently timed for as we arrive at the bus station the bus we need is there. We’re heading to Kessingland to walk back to Lowestoft by beach. This is new country to me, I’ve never even seen this beach. I don’t know what to expect.

Kessingland is such a civilised resort: the council provides safe footage down to the shore

23 sept 2021

where we are blinded by the light

Kessingland where the dunes seem endless: 23 sept 2021

grasses on Kessingland dunes: 23 sept 2021

Sea Buckthorn on the dunes: 23 sept 2021

Ah! So there’s the sea!

23 sept 2021

Sea-sorted stones: 23 sept 2021

The beach is stony. Perhaps we’ll keep to the dunes…

Kessingland dunes: 23 sept 2021

Purple Glasswort and Reeds: 23 sept 2021

Glasswort grows dense around Crazy Mary’s Hole: 23 sept 2021

This seems to be drain-fed from the cliffs. Several feeder streams cross the dunes, their track marked by glasswort, sedge and reeds

Crazy Mary’s Hole: 23 sept 2021

The cliffs of compacted sand: 23 sept 2021

Erosion is constant

23 sept 2021

23 sept 2021

This brings us to Pakefield. The cliffs continue as far as Lowestoft but the nature of the beach changes. Next week…

Whatever a Dipsy-Doodle

Kitty Caboodle lived a life that was brutally frugal
Fasting five days out of every septuple
And on those two days when she’d eat
She forsook her favourite apple strudel
To feast like a Chinese monk on air-dried noodles
(with mushrooms, beans sprouts, of course, and water chestnuts)
Yet Kitty Caboodle was happy as a dipsy-doodle
(whatever a dipsy-doodle)
Always singing about rock-a-doodle
And if you don’t believe me, go ask Google
About this lass called Kitty Caboodle

CCC151: Spirit of the Wood

For the fertility of the land
It’s me you thank
Me and my five-fingered band
We come at Good Mary all in a rush
Her plain to plough, her lips, her brush
I am the spirit of the wood
Some call me Robin, Robin Hood

btw, I’ve seen beneath that token *fig leaf*
