Oh, what a flurry there was amongst the residents when Tud Hopper brought back the news.
“A ‘legal paper’ slapped on us?”
“Not on us. On our home,” Tud Hopper said.
“But…but…” no one could spit out the words.
“Reggie Gardener won’t allow it to happen,” Betty said, and stood firm on that.
“Reggie Gardener is dead,” Tud Hopper said. “And has been these great many years.”
It was agreed, they must find a new home, one and all.
“I’m not moving,” said Betty. “I’ve roots that dig deep.”
Tud Hopper nodded but wouldn’t say. It was because of Betty Birch that they were facing this woeful day.
Very good Crispina. I often think the purpose of 150 words is to ask more questions than answers. You have certainly posed many for me.

The purpose of the 150 limit is that I read everyone’s take, and I don’t have the available time that I used to

We’re all very good at writing micro fiction that in truth is really an introduction, just the hook to the story. I’m delighted when I find someone who’s written the full story arc. It is rare

What a shame the hot house has fallen into such a state.
What a fun perspective you used to tell the woeful tale!

Thank you. My stories probably bubble on the mind’s backburner, but all I k ow is they suddenly appear & there I am writing them!

That’s how my better ones are, they just appear, or at least enough to grab onto.

Apart from the fact I love old & dilapidated places, what really caught my eye was the birch tree growing up through the roof. How long had that building been neglected?

Trees are amazing and will grow around, over and through much. I have seen the like, and a tree will take out the building, eventually, every time.

And the rest of the story?

This is so interesting, Crispina. I feel like Betty has dementia or memory issues and forgot
to pay her bills. More Please … of course, when your schedule lightens. LOL

Thank you, Isadora. I’m a bit like Betty. I dig in my feet and my roots run deep

Love it, Crispina! Her roots have dug deep and her crown has gone through the roof! She has taken over, Betty has 🙂
