CCC8

Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN

Here’s how it works:

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • An answering photo
  • A cartoon
  • A joke
  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope, and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours
  • Your writing is kept to 150 words or less

If you link your post to this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
If you tag it #CCC others should be able to find it by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN.

Details of the photo are given, if relevant, below this line

The Pick of Pics

Being a review of (almost) one year of #2018picoftheweek challenge …

Pussy Willow

It’s Spring. Posted 17th March 2018

FYI, the challenge, set by Maria at ofmariaantonia (originally just for herself but she allowed me to join in) was simple: every Saturday to post a photo to match a Title chosen from a list provided at the start of the year.

Sun on Water

Sparkle. Posted 5th May 2018

I came late to the #2018picoftheweek challenge; it was already February. But that still yields 48 photos. Too many to include in this post. So I’ve picked my favourites. The full set can be seen here: 2018 A Year of Photos

Footpath through grain-field at Arminghall

Follow the Path. Posted 14th July 2018

Sounds simple, doesn’t it. But I soon discovered a snag: which Titles to use early in the year, and which to hold back for later. Towards the end of the year I was sweating on it, my bruised ankles testimony to my several wrong choices.

The all-new, shiny, unused list of Titles are now available for the #2019picoftheweek. For details, contact Of Maria Antonia  I’m sure she’ll let you join in.

Sunday Fungi: Purple Helmets

Burgundy drops, thimble-sized. 1st October 2018

These small, clustering ‘bonnets’ are as much iconic fungi as the totally boring button mushroom of supermarkets and kitchens.

Moody Hemlock

I have a liking for the umbellifers as subjects for my camera. Something of their structure … appeals. This one is the notorious hemlock, sickener (killer?) of reckless boys who cut the hollow stalks to make pea-shooters of them. This plant is poisonous. Ask Socrates.

Moody Hemlock

Tall hemlock stalks in silhouette: 27 November 2018

These 8′ tall end-of-season stalks stand stark against the gathering storm clouds. Apt, I think, as the #2018picoftheweek title Moody.

Bloody paparazzi! Ain’t Her Majesty’s birds safe anymore?

Sunday Fungi: Hidden Away

Not all fungi like to flash their colours. Some are shy babies, not even content to lie disguised amidst autumn leaves.

Hideaway Fungi

Photo: 1 October 2018

These camera-shy fungi were hiding in the deep shadows beneath the roots of a wind-blown tree. But lucky for me the sun then shone! I shall say nothing of the dirty knees and the crick in the neck and the various nasties that also were there. A photographer must suffer for her craft!

Little Beads of Winter

These red berries of bryony epitomise the typical Norfolk winter: taken 27 November 2018

It’s rare for the typical snow-scene to happen along the east coast of Norfolk, though it happens plenty inland. So rather than wait … #2018picoftheweek: Winter

My Solstice Wish

Seasons Greetings A wish for stillness … To travel inwards … To hold to goodness … Embrace with love

This, with Season’s Greetings, I wish to those who follow this blog, with special affection for those who have helped me so much this year. No need to name you, you know who you are!

For those who are interested, my sister emailed the basic photo taken of the frost on her car windscreen. Twenty-five miles away, I was enjoying a warm sunny day!

I played with it, tweaked it, helped it to pop. And made of it something … jewel-like. I’d been looking for an image to accompany this wish. Between my sister and I, we came up with something that fit.
