Crimson’s Creative Post #143

Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN

Here’s how it works:

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • An answering photo
  • A cartoon
  • A joke
  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours
  • Your writing is kept to 150 words or less

If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN

Midnight at the Oasis

It wasn’t yet that magical hour
The hour that they’d agreed to meet
Stars blinked in and out of existence
The moon swelled to full and cut to half
She waited in hot anticipation
For tonight’s… midnight at the oasis.

CCC142: Rooted

The tree didn’t want to be there
Alone in that field
No kindred in view
No one to chat with
But there the tree was
Roots dug in deep
And there those roots
That tree would keep

Vivid in ’89

Vivid in ‘89
That’s a memory that makes a good line
And it was a good line
A vivid time
When I was yours
And you were mine
When passion ruled
And we ignored the clock’s chime

Ask not for whom the bell tolls

Vivid the memory of that car as it helled towards us
Vivid the face of the driver
Vivid the crash, the crumple, the force that threw me
Vivid the memory of that tree
Vivid the gas-fuelled explosion
And you not beside me
Vivid that memory.

Sunday Picture Post: Coltishall

Coltishall is a village on River Bure, set at the furthest navigable point. We could hire a boat in Great Yarmouth and cruise upriver. But we don’t. We bus into Norwich and bus out again.

Two bridges over the Bure connect Coltishall with its neighbour Horstead: 15th July 2021
A footpath alongside the river offers an idyllic view: 15th July 2021
An old poplar grown to great height on the common: 15th July 2021
The door to St John the Baptist church being open…: 15th July 2021
15th July 2021
Of the several pubs in the village (and that is unusual) this is the busiest: 15th July 2021
Canoes and paddle boards can be hired from here: 15th July 2021
Heavy clouds threaten but we’re not at all daunted: 15th July 2021
Away from the river, along the street, some interesting houses… 15th July 2021
15th July 2021
Not all is grand: 15th July 2021
A side road takes us out of the village: 15th July 2021
Do you see the face? 15th July 2021
The clouds remain grim, we push on: 15th July 2021
How old is this barn? I do not know: 15th July 2021
The Bure Valley Railway is a 15″ narrow gauge managed by steam enthusiasts: 15th July 2021

We walk a short way beside the railway (it’s 9 miles in total) and sit for a while to eat our lunch and conclude our walk.

Have you enjoyed the walk? A little different to usual. See Tuesday Treat for the Flowers and Flutters seen on the way
