Professor Papaver

28th May 2022

Professor Papaver said, “In general
The seeds of annuals are plentiful.”
We agreed, in principle
It is a theory observable
Actual and factual
Not simply conjectural.
Objections, though, were several,
This, his latest paper
The seeds of plants classified as ephemeral
being seminal

Ode to Hope

Once in a while inspiration tells me to write a poem. Here’s this year’s. It could apply to many things in this life. How about advertising?

CCC236: Aced

She had travelled much
She had travelled far
Had seen many trees
Had collected their seeds
But for her, this Acer aced them all
Back home she sowed its seed
Tended it, nurtured it
Yet barely grown to a sapling
When disease deceased her
Her kin planted the Acer
Beside her
For all time Aced

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #236

Here’s how it works:

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • An answering photo
  • A cartoon
  • A joke
  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours
  • Your writing is kept to 150 words or less

If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory) by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN

Tuesday Treats: More of Those Little Things

Flowers from our walk 19th April 2023. Enjoy

19th April 2023

Cherries, of course…and Ransoms (wild garlic)

19th April 2023

Columbine… though possibly a garden escapee

19th April 2023

And presenting the prettiest picture: Bluebells, Celandines and Wood Anemones

19th April 2023

19th April 2023

Broom, this was unexpected [Cytisus]

19th April 2023

And…

19th April 2023

If they’re fine-stemmed…

19th April 2023

If they’ve drooping heads…

19th April 2023

If the bells are narrow and tend towards purply-blue…

19th April 2023

We can be sure these are our native flowers.

That’s all for now folks. Hope you enjoyed.

Guest Post on Tony Riches Blog

Don’t you just love it when a fellow writer invites you to write a post for their blog. This is what Historical Fiction writer Tony Riches did when he discovered I was about to launch a new book.

And so I happily tapped the keys and emailed him the result. And here it is…

Tony Riches books are set in the Tudor court. Thoroughly researched, excellently written; Tony has a growing following. I recommend! Find his books here

Sunday Picture Post: Back Home Part 2

Picking up where we left off last Sunday, in our walk of 19th April.

We take a long cut, just so we can walk beside the river…

19th April 2023

We discuss whether this is Old Man or Old Mother Willow. All I know is this tree was old when I was young

19th April 2023

Two bridges create a slight illusion. My grandpa helped to build the older bridge (the one with the arches)

19th April 2023

We circle around to approach Greenhills Wood…because our bus stop lies on the other side. Logic, hey!

19th April 2023

It is a hill, but it’s not high (this is Norfolk)

19th April 2023

When we moved from this village in 1983 there was a pine plantation on this hilltop. Not no more!

19th April 2023

There is a greening where once was deep pine-shadowed dark

19th April 2023

And here are bluebells… of course

19th April 2023

19th April 2023

19th April 2023

19th April 2023

But as yet we’re too early for the wide swathes of bluebells that carpet this woodland. Never mind. We have somewhere else in mind for our next walk.

Hope you enjoyed!

On This Point I’m Resolute

Image: Open Clip-Art Vectors on Pixabay

As a statement that is absurd
The hugest crap I’ve ever heard
Might as well say you’ve proven
That elephants live in trees
Or that if you don’t move then
Moss will grow on your knees
Why not say that people undecided
Literally sit on the fence
No, my friend, don’t feel chided
Just saying it makes as much sense
Don’t be deceived
I am not peeved
Just on this point I’m ever resolute
The truth can never be absolute
