CCC167: Never Trust The Devil

I see you scratching your head, wondering what I am.
I’m a fricking rock-star, that’s what I am.
Or was.

How’d I get like this?
Well might you ask.

I made a deal with the devil.
Sing me a song of sympathy
And I’ll make you immortal.

Huh! Look at me, slowly rotting, food for fungi.
My word to you: NEVER TRUST THE DEVIL

Tuesday Treat: Leaves, Feathers and Flowers

Details from Thursday’s walk… Part One

Butterbur. I’ve never seen it in flower this early. We passed it on the way back. Baked in the sun all day, it smelled divine!

13th January 2022

It’s probably a cherry… but again, flowering very early

13th January 2022

As for this… a garden escapee, has to be. It might be jasmine

13th January 2022

Ivy berries

13th January 2022

Mr Blue Tit… singing its heart out

13th January 2022

Ode to a Tenacious Leaf!

13th January 2022

Alder cones & catkins… love that tree

13th January 2022

I swear, these are the cleanest cattle I have ever seen. Had to take a photo

13th January 2022

Song thrush… singing

13th January 2022

Goldfinch… not intentionally hiding

13th January 2022

More tenacious leaves. Possibly field maple

13th January 2022

Hazel catkins. Spring has arrived on the East Coast! (But winter can hit us at any time)

13th January 2022

Hope these photos have helped to brighten your grey winter days. They certainly delighted me. More next week

Sunday Picture Post: Down the Path to Upton

Thursday 13th January the bus takes us to Acle. We arrive with the sun

13th January 2022

And head down the path to Upton (the sun follows us as we pick our way around the muddy puddles)

13th January 2022

13th January 2022

Every time I do this walk, I take a photo (at least one) of Fishley church. This morning it’s especially enchanting, softened by the mist

13th January 2022

And caught in the golden rays of the early sun

13th January 2022

The path takes us over fields…

13th January 2022

As we near the water, this mist lies thicker

13th January 2022

The overnight rain shatters  the sun’s rays and this becomes a magical place

13th January 2022

13th January 2022

In the distance, a windmill, once used to regulating water flow

13th January 2022

Upton Boat Dyke… everywhere else in England a dyke = a bank. In Norfolk it’s a ditch dug out to connect village and the river

13th January 2022

Leaving the village…

13th January 2022

And the other kind of mill, once used for grinding grain

13th January 2022

That’s all for today, but that’s not where the walk ends. I’m leaving the second part for next week. Hope you enjoyed

Go Sulk

What, you think me your slave?
That all you need do is raise your hand and wave?
Well, I say not a chance, so just behave
Go into a sulk, retreat to your cave.

CCC166: Remember Spring?

Remember spring? With trees barely green, with flowers yellow and birds that sweetly sing.

Remember summer? When the sap was rising strong in you, never known a hotter lover.

Remember autumn? When that virus came and swept you up. I thought you taken. I mourned the loss.

But I welcome winter… you’re delivered back to me.

Tuesday Treat: Sunny Shores

2nd January, we begin our beach-walk beneath heavy clouds. We catch a shower but then it’s done. And the clouds… (see Sunday Picture Post). Then this…

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

And in the raking rays, a chance at “beach photography”

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

And finally, the treat of the day, a grey seal pup in molt

Hope you enjoyed.

Sunday Picture Post: Sunrise Clouds

2nd January and we decide on a beach-walk. We leave home early in the hope of catching the sunrise. Oh, but the rainclouds are gathering. We don’t call off. Here’s what we see…

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

Looking shoreward (to the west, away from the hidden sunrise)

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

2nd January 2022

I’ve shown the photos in the order taken. This post might be subtitled, Anatomy of a Clouded Sunrise. And as you can see, the sun did climb above the clouds. I’m saving those shots for Tuesday. Hope you enjoyed.
