Tuesday Treats: Dingies, Boats and Yachts

Southwold 12th January 2023, a world of boats… which just happen to be one of my photographic passions. And so, happy to share these with you

Sunday Picture Post: A Grey Day Down South

12th January and the weather forecast isn’t encouraging. Overcast and windy. But we board a bus to the next coastal town to south of us (Lowestoft) where we catch another bus…to the next coastal town to the south of there. Southwold. Please enjoy these photos of the day’s excursion…

St Edmund’s Church. I’ve a fondness for St Edmund, our patron saint before St George replaced him.

12th January 2023

Adnams Brewery: Adnams and Southwold are synonymous! I love the smell of malted barley but my walking partner (my daughter) cannot abide it. Tastes!

12th January 2023

Yep, that’s the lighthouse

12th January 2023

And down to the promenade where the beach huts line up as if on parade. No sunbathing today

12th January 2023

We head down to River Byth – not a big river – through what to us is familiar marshland. A check back over our shoulders to the water tower and golf course

12th January 2023

12th January 2023

At the river’s mouth…hints of how windy!

12th January 2023

This is a fishing port, although it’s also home to pleasure yachts

12th January 2023

12th January 2023

Fresh fish, shrimps, crabs and lobsters…

12th January 2023

Saying goodbye to the Blyth, we head back into town…

12th January 2023

Sorry, we disturb the egret with our chatter

12th January 2023

A last look across the marshland before we seek a fish-and-chip shop in town for our lunch, and then the bus home.

12th January 2023

Hope you enjoyed this walk. Shame about the weather. For me, the highlight was the boats…but I’m leaving them for Tuesday Treats!

Sunshine Yellow

Cromer, 27th January 2023

Amongst the mostly blue fishing boats on Cromer beach the twin-hulled Boy Max grabbed my eyes

Eye-catching, one of the titles from Maria Antonia’s #2023picofthe week

Below, a shot of the mostly blue fishing boats

Listen to Me

Don’t speak to me of your spending-spree
Nor your vacation by the sea
Truth, my dear, I fail to see
What reasons for your fanciful glee
Overspent
The bank’s not going to relent
They’ll charge you double
Their fees will cause you trouble
Paying that will burst your bubble
I ought to spank you hard
Like the time you spray-painted the yard
Listen to me
Shepherd your money, that’s the key

Friday Fungi: The Finale!

Alas, my fungi archives are empty, and so this must be the last of the Friday Fungi feature (until autumn). That’s not to say the occasional fungus won’t sneak into the Sunday or Tuesday posts. So please do enjoy these shots from Smockmill Common, 28th November 2022

Sunday Picture Post: Water, Water, Rain and Lake

3rd January 2023 we catch the bus to Norwich and alight on the outskirts. We’re heading to Whitlingham Country Park. Forecast says rain. But what the heck, there’s a cafe here.

Here used to be a summer retreat for the monks at Norwich cathedral…

3rd January 2023

The lake is much used by those who enjoy messing about on the water…

3rd January 2023

I don’t know what’s kept in these red containers, but I love it’s wing-like canopy

3rd January 2023

The lake is separated from the River Yare by a berm the width of a footpath

3rd January 2023

The train to Great Yarmouth crosses the river…

3rd January 2023

3rd January 2023

Looking out across the lake, wishing the sun would shine

3rd January 2023

A place to sit. A shame it’s so cold. But the sun’s finally shining

3rd January 2023

3rd January 2023

The almost continuous rain of late has resulted in extensive puddles!

3rd January 2023

Looking the length of the lake…and the sun’s gone in and it’s raining

3rd January 2023

Heading back along the other side of the lake…where the cafe sits!

3rd January 2023

The last photo, for the rain now pelted down!

3rd January 2023

And that was our day out. A coffee while we waited for the rain to stop (which it didn’t) and back to the bus stop

Hope you enjoyed
