A collection of photos with no other unifying theme but our walk on 28th January 2026. Enjoy
πΌ Southwold is a resort of cannons. Or so it would seem. They form clusters along the clifftop. This one’s a small cannon, I jokingly call it a pistol! π½ Snowdrops! So delightful to see
Wildlife! πΌ A rabbit caught bobbing through someone’s garden π½ A pipit chirping in a nearby treeΒ β¬ A deer but don’t know it’s name, it disappeared off before I’d time to ask it (probably a muntjac)
The accoutrements of fishing πΌπ½β¬
Two photos taken just because I liked the patterns formed πΌπ½
A lovely riverside pub, so atmospheric. But along comes a North Sea Surge (which resembles a small tsunami in effect, though not in cause) and… flooded π½ It has recovered and still does a good trade
Final shot, you can’t have the winter months without the golden flowers of gorse π½
Hope you enjoyed.
Now, I wonder where I might take you next week?

Some walks yield more subjects than other. e.g. a woodland tends to be mostly trees. But I’m always looking for the interesting and/unusual

People I encounter along the way often ask me what I’m taking photos of (they assume I’m after the birds) and my answer is “Anything that looks interesting.” But to me so much looks interesting. Which is why I return home with 300 photos and then have to sift them; which ones are good enough to share

I know the feeling! I take 10 pictures of the same scene and then only 2 are good for use but both are similar

But if you only take one, guarantee that one will be unusable, out of focus or some such. Always good to take back ups!

I love this gallery Crispina. A nice change. I love that you have such different deer and birds than we do. And speak for yourself! Flowers in winter are not something we see here (outside of vases…)

I try to ring the changes, especially this time of year. But later in the year I shall be obsessed with flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, and back to fungi.
We’re fortunate in Britain to have an island climate. It can be very very wet (as it has been of late) but it’s seldom wickedly cold for more than a few days at at stretch. Seldom, not never π₯°

It’s nice. And we enjoy what we do, for sure.

Gorgeous flowers, Crispina. I have my eye on one in particular for a quadrille I’m writing.
