Don’t you come near
Do you hear?
Though it’s not you that I fear
A fear that’s severe

I fear a bull with horns 😱

We mostly walk the public footpaths. Farmers are not supposed to have dangerous animals on these paths. But we did once encounter a bull on the path, and have been attacked by horses who wanted our food! Cows, while docile, are curious beasts and must investigate what they see as a trespasser. As a crowd as they close around you they can be scary and potentially dangerous. The thing is not to acknowledge them. But then how to get the photos?

I do love cattle. But they’re heavy beasts if you get trapped amongst them!

Well… there is no ring in his nose which may falsely lead me to think I should not fear him… then again, he is looking straight at me and maybe it’s just a warning I should heed!

It’s a female. A mother with her calf. Now, might that be a tad dangerous?

Stoopid me. I didn’t look closely! It might definitely be a tad more dangerous!

There were a dozen or so cows in that field, three with calves. There might have been some bullocks but I wasn’t looking that closely.

I recall coming unexpectedly face to face with a cow in a Vermont state park so many years ago. I’m not sure which of us was the more surprised.

I grew up with cows, they shouldn’t bother me. And I would far prefer a herd of cows than I would horses (yes, I am the disgrace of my family).
