The old man ambled along the road
Gnarled as the oaks he was passing
A much-patched backpack hooked over his shoulders
Shoulders already askew from the hump of his back
He saw the shoe
Looked down at his feet
Oh, for a shoe equally as neat
A lady’s, no doubt
And well-heeled at that
He sighed and took it
He’d return it in the morning
Resoled and worthy.

Should the lady return, she’ll have to leave the other one as they won’t have the same soles 😉

Never thought of that, and I ought to have. Amongst is many other talents my grandfather acted as the village cobbler. I used to watch him mend shoes.

Ah well… We think one way when we write and another when we read. 😊
Mine’s coming soon. I was all computered out after my first training session for my new job. Managed to download my picture(s) but the story’s not written yet 😉

New job? Have you told me about this? Was I asleep?

Apologies. Did I forget to tell you? My bad! I started yesterday. Will be working 7 days per week until the week before last one of October.

Then at least chill. Feet up. Chilled music. Low lighting.

Thank you. Memories of watching my grandfather… though with him it was just one of his many sidelines

I love the way you’ve built up the character and an ending I wasn’t expecting.
