I confess I did tweak the photo. Those bins were very dark green. Otherwise, the photo captures another grey day in Great Yarmouth. And it had begun with dazzling sun!

I like the way the water reflects the dimmness of the light on the boardwalk.

In a way it was disappointing that the day that had started bright (blinding me and the camera) by lunchtime came all over grey. But then I got a good photo from it, so shan’t complain. ๐

I love all the various shades of grey in this. Perfect for the monochrome prompt. Nice that you got the ship in the background!

Initially, that ship was the main subject, but at such a distance, I needed foreground interest. And the pier simply jumped into my path! Perfect.

Another great photo, Crispina. Love the way the ship is cut into slices by the lampposts

It was kinda serendipty. My subject was the ship. And I’d take several shots with several foregrounds. Then I went onto the pier. And lo!

Love a pier, too. Even a tacky one filled with amusements has its charms. Though there’s one near us at Clevedon, just long and thin with a pagoda shaped tea room at the end. Always windswept but full of charm

We have three. Or had. The one in this photo is somewhat truncated. It fell into the sea. But on behalf of the owner, I can say he doesn’t mind, since what remains of the pier is pretty much taken with gaming arcades, which is his love.
Of the other two, one has a theatre (owned by the same people) and the other is a simple jetty, with a shelter for anglers at the end.

Piers seem to have a track record of burning down, it seems. Perhaps these days it’s because they’re often a bit rundown, neglected and the wiring is dodgy. Shame. I live them

The one remaining in GY (Britannia Pier) is the third incarnation. The first one was sliced in half by a passing ship. I do not kid you!

Wow! That’s astonishing. At least they keep rebuilding it

Patching it is more the word. But it must be a never-ending task.

Piers must get a lot of hammer. Salt water, wave and wind damage. They must be under constant repair

Cutting, eh?

A little worrisome at times. Especially when the sea runs high! One of my colleagues had to be rescued, the sea awash across the boads. My day off. Oh yay!

Nature still manages to catch us out, doesn’t it? I think perhaps modern people are too used to having (seeming) mastery over nature, made ourselves too distant from it. So when we do come up against her in full flow, we’re caught off guard. The sea in particular, cannot be tamed

I live squashed between the estuary and the North Sea. I know about nature’s mastery. ๐

Lovely image and nothing wrong with using your creativity to tweak the photo (I, as you know, am guilty of same for your challenges ๐ )

There’s always something needs a helping hand. I have the camera set on *sunny* all the time (except for indoor photography), and then sort out the lighting when I get home. It works. Though I’m always amazed, given the vagaries of the British weather, when no adjustment is needed ๐

I so understand…
Always nice when we don’t have to play with adjustments…

Oh yes! Then I stare in wonderment! Then I know our British weather has betrayed us, and substitued something from the Med. ๐

I love the composite of this photo!

Thank you. It’s a lot busier than many of my shots, more elements, but the grey holds it together quite well, I thought ๐
