Painted Lady butterfly: 17 June 2019

Poised, ready for flight, this Painted Lady butterfly frequents hogweed, which on Monday’s walk we found in abundance. So, too, the butterflies. And this one obliged by holding still.

    The detail on this is exquisite, Crispina. From the tiny hogweed flowers to the shadow beneath the butterfly. Beautiful! 🙂

      I thank you. As I said on another comment here, the moment was right. This was a windy day, and I’ve had to ditch a high number of photos. So it’s amazing that this one took so well.

    I thought of you yesterday when a gorgeous Monarch butterfly (granted, the only one whose name I would be able to identify) paused on a bush nearby and showed off its wings. I thought, If I were Crispina, I would have my camera with me!
