Poised, ready for flight, this Painted Lady butterfly frequents hogweed, which on Monday’s walk we found in abundance. So, too, the butterflies. And this one obliged by holding still.

I thank you. It was one of many. The Painted Lady liked to pose!

I shall pass your comment on to the butterfly next time I see her. Though it was fortuitous that she should pose in a moment of peace from the constant wind.

The detail on this is exquisite, Crispina. From the tiny hogweed flowers to the shadow beneath the butterfly. Beautiful! 🙂

I thank you. As I said on another comment here, the moment was right. This was a windy day, and I’ve had to ditch a high number of photos. So it’s amazing that this one took so well.

I thought of you yesterday when a gorgeous Monarch butterfly (granted, the only one whose name I would be able to identify) paused on a bush nearby and showed off its wings. I thought, If I were Crispina, I would have my camera with me!

Wow, no longer the Fungi Lady, I’m now the Butterfly Woman. 🙂 But I have to admit, the camera doesn’t go everywhere with me, and there are loads of ops I miss.
