Sunday Picture Post: Another Norfolk Nook

28th July 2023, the day dawned with an encouraging sky. Strapped on the hikers, hopped on the bus, and the second bus. We’re walking from Poringland to Hellington via Framingham Earl and Alpington. Please, you’re welcome to join us…

28th July 2023

Water towers lost amongst the pines…

28th July 2023

Away from the houses, everywhere’s green…

28th July 2023

The quaintest of churches at Framingham Earl…

28th July 2023

28th July 2023

A short way past the church is a farm-shop and cafe, a must-do stop. And a John Deere tractor, a must-have pic!

28th July 2023

Back on the road (or rather, lane) and another water tower, this one obsolete…

28th July 2023

We turn off the lane, down a greenway…

28th July 2023

…which takes us to Alpington and the village pond…

28th July 2023

…where we get bewitched by a charming horse…

28th July 2023

28th July 2023

Almost to Hellington where we’ll catch the bus home, but first our route passes through a farmyard…

28th July 2023

Hope you enjoyed our walk…

After The Rain

19th August 2023

The rain had steadily pattered from midnight to dawn. Then, just as the sky brightened enough to get a good shot, I whizzed out and took this.

Undeniably Wet, a title from Maria Antonia’s #2023picofthe week

Our Right To Be Free

Image from Piaxabay: John Hain

I knew there’d be those who disagreed
But I had to voice the things I believed
I considered it my God-given deed
To shout loud against Elitist greed
Against those who treat us like a noxious weed
To be disregarded until there’s need
Those same who believed our diet nothing but calorific feed
Those who were busily broadcasting their pernicious Creed
Those who cared not if we bleed
Those who turned deaf ears to our plea
When we demanded the right to live free

CCC250: There Was A Boat

Adrift with a float
There was a boat
The boat was red
To me it sped
Held in my sight
Despite the light
The boat passed by
Left me to die.

But I’m alive
Was it a joke?
Or maybe a dream
That’s how it seems
I hope I woke.

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #250

Here’s how it works:

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • An answering photo
  • A cartoon
  • A joke
  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours
  • Your writing is kept to 150 words or less

If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it.

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN

Monday Flyers

Butterflies from our walk 17th July 2023…

17th July 2023

The blackberries were certainly a draw for the butterflies along the way. Here’s a Comma and a Meadow Brown

17th July 2023

17th July 2023

Red Admiral momentarily at rest…

17th July 2023

A pretty Small Copper, our first sighting!

17th July 2023

The Gatekeeper!

17th July 2023

And a small white; this is the one most often seen in gardens…

17th July 2023

A Large Tortoiseshell, not in great abundance this year…

17th July 2023

Gatekeeper. Along with the Meadow Browns, these were everywhere, dancing in the air, refusing to settle to allow us a pic…

17th July 2023

This Comma has come down to earth to allow me the chance to focus…

17th July 2023

More blackberries, this time attracting Meadow Browns…

17th July 2023

Sunday Picture Post: The Old Ways

In days of old when women were bold and drove their chariots to stir their tribes… yea, 17th July 2023, we’re in Boudica country – Saxlingham, a few miles south of Venta Icenorum. Please, join us as we head away from Pye Road (a Roman construction, now A140)…

17th July 2023

Where Fairfield Lane meets the Roman road…

17th July 2023

Few houses, small-holdings and farm buildings is all…

17th July 2023

This is gently rolling countryside…

17th July 2023

Mixed farming is the norm here. Sheep this side…

17th July 2023

Grain to t’other…

17th July 2023

We turn off the lane, to pass through a farm yard…

17th July 2023

The farmer’s house, pretty in pink…

17th July 2023

Keeping an eye on the clouds. Thunder is forecast…

17th July 2023

Ah, relief to be out of the sun. I’ve a strong belief this is the continuation of the road that runs from Venta Icenorum (Caister St Edmunds) to Saxlingham but it was left to be a greenway when parishes were told to metal their roads…

17th July 2023

Locally known as Mud Hole…and I have passed this way when it’s been deep in water. Yet on an old map, ca.1891, a building is marked close by, by name of Mud Hall. Hmm.

17th July 2023

And of course, Saxlingham Thorpe church ruins, dear to my heart…

17th July 2023

Looking across the fields to the church at Saxlingham Nethergate…

17th July 2023

And hurrying now for the bus before that cloud bursts!

Hope you enjoyed. See also Monday Flyers and Tuesday Flowers.

Fun Fungus Find

16th August 2023

This Shaggy Inkcap is a tad early in appearing, but these things happen After The Rain, which is the title I’m claiming from Maria Antonia’s #2023picofthe week

And that gives me another line on the Photo Bingo Card

In each and every

To act with irrefutable
