A miscellany of (mostly) close-ups taken on our walk on 13th July 2026. Enjoy…
πΌ You don’t need me to tell you this is a face-full of sea-spray! Great for cooling you down π½ Hollyhocks, they’re everywhere in this resort, colouring gardens and colouring the cliffs! β¬
π½ Scarlet Pimpernel, tucked beneath a ??? fern
Pond flowers πΌ Water Lilies π½
π½Water Figwort. Toxic, upsets the belly, big-time, but not a killer
π½ Yellow Loosestrife
Pond life πΌ Moorhen. Usually so shy but I guess here it’s grown used to people π½ Not so coy Koi
The dune community…
πΌ Tree Lupin, which isn’t a tree, now in seed π½ Sea Pea peeking out from beneath a boat
πΌ An enormous growth of Sea Kale. Edible? Maybe if you cook it long enoughΒ π½ Yarrow’s not at all fussy, it’ll grow anywhere
πΌ Hare’s Foot Clover getting friendly with Lady’s BedstrawΒ π½ Sea Holly. Isn’t it beautiful β¬
And that, my friends, is all for now. Hope you enjoyed.
Next week, due to medical appointments and such, we’re taking a step back in time, into the depths of my archives, to photos you’ve not seen before

Thanks for that refreshing splashπ¦ I needed waking upπ youβve got some lovely shots – that sea holly is so pretty I donβt think Iβve seen it before π

I love sea holly. Such a pretty flower. But very very prickly to stand on bare-footed!

Fine to admire from a safe distance π

Usually it’s entangled with marram grass. So if the holly doesn’t get you, that vicious grass will. Yet it’s how they survive in an inhospitable environment

I thank you. Former art student. Graphic design. That might explain it.

Love the pond flowers and water lilies but I’ll take a pass on the kale!

Rather eat the water lily roots… apparently edible!
