A gathering of photos taken on our walk on 4th February 2026 during a drab and fitfully spitting day. Enjoy
🔼 Seen in a garden, and irresistible, Green Hellebore 🔽 Hazel catkins. No wind. See, they’re hanging straight down!
Geese 🔼 Egyptian 🔽 Greylags
Waymakers crafted from the tracks of this former railway, placed at every mile 🔼 full frontal view 🔽 close-up of that zip!
🔽 Rosehips sparkling with raindrops. I couldn’t get close enough for a macro-shot
And now for the fungi. We were not looking, yet somehow we found them…
🔼 Turkey-tails 🔽 some kind of yellow crust
🔽 I’m thinking this is probably another crust or a bracket. What we’re seeing is the underside of the fungus
🔼 Oysterlings. There are several species, I’m not sure which one this is 🔽 Yellow brain. That’s quite an easy one to recognise!
That’s all for today. More miscellaneous pics and fungi fun next week
Hope you enjoyed

What fabulous fungi 🍄🙌

I would say they’re a good standby for the flowerless months. But there’s more fungi in evidence at the moment than usual. For which I’m thankful, for many/most of the wild flowers are very late putting in an appearance

Thank you, Maggie. I confess, it can be a bit of a struggle at this time of year. But… I manage!

You have such a variety of geese and fungi! Lovely. That zipper is something else!

Thank you. I was going to post just the zip mechanism. Then realised it would confuse all but those in the know (and that’s not many). So I had to use the full pic too

Oh for sure you had to include the whole shebang. It is way more impressive that way!

These iron sculptures are set 1 mile apart. The entire trail is 25 miles. I have photos of almost all (I miss a small section in the middle)

Although these do grow in the wild, that one was definitely a recent garden escapee!

Thanks to a careless up date …. I should have ignored jetpacks warning that I needed to update!!? This is the only way I can reach your blog for now. I love the flora and the fauna… Beautiful photos all. My favourite definitely the Catkins 💜💜💜💜
