24th September 2025, with the flowers past their best and the fungi season not yet started, we decide to visit Acle, ‘Gateway to the Broads’ for at least there’ll be boats. Please join us
This fingerpost says Weavers Way, a long distance trail that starts on North Norfolk coast and meanders through the weavers’ villages until it reaches the port of Gt Yarmouth πΌ And here’s the source of the weavers’ wool π½
The first of today’s boats (Broads’ cruisers) taking a rest at Acle Boat Dyke πΌ An irresistible pic of reeds and an unidentified member of the mint family π½
Two examples of riverside houses πΌπ½ this one is part of a pub. Pub break for a late breakfast!
The early morning cloud has relented, now blue skies grace our walk. Boats at Acle Bridge πΌπ½ with swans β¬
A permissible path through potentially wet, soggy, muddy marshland πΌπ½
At the end π½ our walk is punctuated by this beautiful thatched farmhouse, for me the epitome of Broads architecture
Hope you enjoyed. Don’t miss Tuesday Treats and, yes, Friday Fliers and Fungi!

Beautiful day for a walk. Thanks for taking me along….

In stages. With the exception of hawthorn, and birch, our native trees tend not to change colour until very late in the year. But sweet chestnut and horse chestnut and such long-ago introduced trees are already changing

Gorgeous! It looks like summer, which is the type of weather we’re having in New York!
