31st August 2026 and the weather forecast suggests perfect conditions for a long walk. But in the UK, it’s a Bank Holiday and that means buses are running a Sunday service, which isn’t exactly fantastic. We agree to keep it local and, despite the overnight rain (yay, let’s celebrate), decide on Damgate Carr through to Weavers’ Way. And maybe we’ll walk further than last time during the high summer heat. So here we go…
๐ผ And already we can see how green these woods. They’re positively lush. And not too wet underfoot ๐ฝ
Early morning and the light is fantastic, illuming the berries on vines that have spent the summer clambering up to the sky ๐ผ Guilder Roseย ๐ฝ Honeysuckle
๐ผ We’ve noticed Hops here in previous years. But this year they’re rampant, scrambling everywhereย ๐ฝ While some are fruiting, other vines are still carrying flowers
๐ผ Out of the woods, we cross the main drain. Here, too, everything’s verdant
๐ผ A path leads us to Weavers’ Way (is it only a week since we walked the section of Weavers’ Way around Aylsham?)ย ๐ฝ The path runs parallel to the Norwich-Gt Yarmouth train line, separated by a drainage ditch
๐ผ It matters not that we’ve had drought and a heat wave, Nature offers an exuberant harvest!ย ๐ฝ This is not a bridge we must cross. Yet the light is such that it demands my lens’ attention
๐ฝ That light! Wow. And here are a couple of strays, separated from their herd which is way off to our left
๐ผ More summer fruits, though I can’t name them. Probably a hybrid of multiple plum species ๐ฝ There are loads of these wonderful fruits along this laneย โฌ
This isn’t where our walk ends, for we’ve now to turn around and retrace our steps back to the bus stop in Acle. But this is where this post stops.
See Tuesday Treats for more pics. Hope you enjoyed ๐๐

I really enjoyed this! That’s lots of verdant paths, and seeing those plants made me smile. ๐โบ๏ธ

Stick with us. I’ll post more from here, probably around winter time. Though I’ve learned not to stray across the marsh when it’s sodden!

So lush and fruitful …. and those cows look content though separated from their herd. Are you still in drought?

We finally had rain the day before this walk. But we’ve had lots of rain since. So yes, we’re no longer in drought

Wonderful shots – itโs amazing how nature has so quickly begun to recover- so green! And I did love that bridge ๐

I have to say, that area, being a swamp, doesn’t ever dry out, it just gets safer to walk on!

The pictures are beautiful, as always, Crispina. I was particularly focused on the stray animals.
