They’re going to kill me
I have to leave
Shoes, clothes, tights
What to take to keep it light
Bank card, pension book
But then they’ll know just where to look
I’ll withdraw the money before I go
Mother, where are you off to?
You’re going to kill me, I have to go
Oh Mother-dear
Whatever gave you that idea?
You said it, I heard
Going to kill that fat old bird
Old Bertha, the hen, not you, you sweet head-flop
You really shouldn’t eavesdrop
85 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Eavesdrop

Clever! But I think this should be a foresight moment for her if nothing else! hehehe

Do not eavesdrop!
I wanted to write more, but there’s always the word limit without Sammis prompts

Thank you, Dale. At first, I thought of taking an excerpt from one of my books. But then inspiration took me

I like it best when I can write the comedic. Wish I could do that with my books, but that’s a much bigger task

I bet you could!😃

I’ve tried it a few times. I get comedic moments in them, often used to break up what otherwise might be a heavy but unavoidable exposition moment. I like to have a comedic character all lined up ready for that eventuality

Digital transactions leave better trails. At least they will find out where their mother is 🙂

I liked that little detail. In my mind, she has the early stages of dementia, but she’s sound enough to realise that

I’ve seen seniors prepare notes and envelopes before their departure. My grandmother left behind envelopes with cash for each occasion and ritual, as my cousin was getting married in the same month. She did not live to see the wedding.

My father left us a list of all his accounts/debts, when payments were due, all necessary account numbers, phone numbers, everything

Too funny, Crispina. You should never listen to only half a conversation…

But then it wouldn’t make such an amusing story
