CCC020: Bid Me Well, Made Me Swell

My father is a trader-man
That’s how I met my Danish Dan
Came a-calling with exotic goods
With Eastern silks, gold and stiff black hoods
He bid me well
Then made me swell
And I say he has to wed me
To give a father to our baby

Early evidence of Anglo-Saxons (Danes) in this area suggests peaceful trading links
