Weather forecast for 28th December 2023 isn’t great. Cold. Very high winds. But at least no rain. Not knowing how bad those winds would be, we decide to stay close to home. Breydon Water. So let’s go…
Breydon Bridge marks the beginning of Breydon Water, the ‘estuary’ of the rivers Waveney and Yare. Sorry, the image isn’t sharp, a combination of winds rattling me and the camera, and the very low blue light before sunrise
The town’s to the east, our destination to the west, so the sun will be rising behind us. But frequent looks back ensures we catch the first glow of dawn
Several shots later…
What a glorious sunrise. Shame about the wind, now strengthening. Do we continue, or head back to home? We keep going
We check out the waters, usually so placid. No, those aren’t tide-driven waves, they’re entirely wind-driven
Widgeons and oystercatchers, on zoom for the tide is now fast ebbing
While behind us…
At least now we should have better light…
The water has withdrawn to a narrow channel, way out there, and it’s trying to rain
Another look back. A blue sky would be good
Ah, a blue sky just beginning to show
But here’s where we leave it for today. Second part of the walk, next Sunday. Hope you enjoyed.

Amazing scenes.

Thank you, Sadje. Shame about the lack of sharpness, but in high winds, with a tripod, can’t use a long enough shutter speed. So we do our best!

Thank you, Dale. As we watched that sun emerge we were kicking ourselves for not returning to the beach. Best place to see it. But I’m happy with what we got (which is many more shots than I’ve posted here)

Ah well. Things happen. You shared some beauties.
There’s nowhere i.can capture a sunrise decently. Sunsets are another matter!

That location is great for sunsets. Unfortunately, since moving I have a distance to return home in the dark, through a town where not always safe these days.

That’s too bad. Best not to tempt fate!

And the stop-off in the pub for a warming drink was wonderful!
