16th August dawns loud with sun. What better day to walk alongside the estuary. Cooling breezes from the water…or so we hope! So, fill the water bottles and let’s go…
But first there’s the common to cross…
Tide is high, the water reflects the deep blue sky
We stop to take a slug of water, and look back. What’s happened to the cooling breezes?
We’re trapped between grazing marshes and the water, it’s baking hot, and very humid
We leave the estuary, to cross the grazing-marsh…
By tradition, this is cattle-grazing country, but of late horses have taken their places. These are rescued horses, a charity totally funded by public donation
The road winds between alders and willows…
To take us to the higher ground that is Burgh Castle which overlooks the Yare and Waveney confluence…
Clouds are amassing. Are we to get rain? No matter, we’re ready to catch the bus home.Β It truly is the most humid conditions, clothes drenched.
Hope you enjoyed

Love the deep blue sky and the sea shots.

Makes a nice change to see the sea blue, I always remember it as greyish green, looks good in these pics though

It’s the estuary, so it doesn’t get churned the way the sea does. And apart from the navigation channel, it’s mostly shallow (mudflats at low tide). So the sky gets reflected

Now that’s a peaceful walk. π

It is. We didn’t even encounter a dog-walker. Just the occasional boat cruising past. And the horses and cattle

It was more the humidity. But it was worth it, always worth it

You may have been baking in that breezeless day but your pictures are gorgeous and some give the feeling of cool…

Blue, it does that! But you can see by the lack of ruffles, no wind

What a lovely walk. We too have had stifling humidity in August. π

I could say this year was THE worst I remember. But that’s not true. 1976/77, and again in early 1980s…wicked heat, wicked humidity
