Sunday Picture Post: England’s Green and Pleasant Land

8th June, after 2 separate buses we reach the Norfolk village of Brooke, and pick up a footpath on its outskirts. Please, do come along with us.

The path leads us across arable fields, the crops beautiful in their shades of green

  4. Isn’t it so very English to describe something as ‘pleasant’? The American reaction would be ‘Awesome!!!’ and the Australian, “Yeah, pretty fucken good,” but the English see no need for hyperbole and William Blake, whilst clearly in awe, saw no reason to overstate things here or resort to the vulgarities of the colonies.
That said, of course, I thought the photos really were pretty fucken good.
