No Blessed Time

It’s a well-known fact
That Christmas festivities a family can wreck
The sanctimony displayed by a spouse always right
Brothers bickering over their patrimony into the night
The acrimony of whose gifts are pricier
Whose nieces and nephews behaved the ‘nicier’
Aging aunts inadvertently stirring
Arguments best left blurring
Christmas, no blessed time for matrimony

55 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Acrimony

Hoping your festive season isn’t beset with destructive quarrels; that peace reigns in your home

Apart from one truly horrible Christmas, my family never did bicker on the holiday. Mind you, we bickered often enough. But Christmas Day, we had no quarrels . . . again, with one unfortunate exception.
