Norfolk isn’t as flat as some folks say. But neither is it really hilly. There are two notable high spots where the land reaches 100 meters above sea level. One is along the North Norfolk Ridge. The other is here in what used to be known as Henstead, the High Place
Horses in a paddock…but what is that one wearing? Too far away for me to see. Looks like he should be on a medieval field of battle
All Norfolk lanes lead somewhere…though some end in fields. Not this one
The vista is wide, and so is the sky
I’m unused to arable land these days… wow, this seems like somewhere other than Norfolk
See that farmhouse in the distance…we’re heading to there
From here till we get to the village in the valley, we’ll be treading and threading through the farmer’s estate. No cattle, just grain…
What a wonderfully quiet place to live, far from the busy everyday traffic
A couple of deer springing across the field… I do wish I was faster on responding
From here the way is downhill all the way and my subjects mostly floral. And so I’ll leave you with a conker on the tree which to me is iconic of the village in the valley…where I’ll take you next week
Hope you enjoyed. For those with curiosity, we walked from Upper Stoke to Shotesham. Next week we’ll walk from Shotesham to Newtown Flotman in the Tas Valley
Your photo of the strangely clad horse makes me think you have spotted filming nefarious activities of the nasty couple in, βDetectorists.β

I zoomed in but not good enough to really work it out. Just looked medieval to me. Or someone rehearsing for pantomime season

These days I only visit for the day but time was I used to stay the entire summer with my grandparents very close by here. Lots of ancestral relatives came from around here

What wonderful photos, I absolutely loved those fields.

I’ve become so used to green grazing marshes that the arable fields seem almost foreign to me…which probably encouraged me to take more photos
