CCC162: The Parish Eagle

Little Robin in the churchyard hiding
What was it the bird found frightening
Was the old vicar sermonising
Or the new organ player improvising

It was the eagle, parish-bought
And in stone realistically wrought
To sit above the south porch-door
That frightened young Robin to his core

Aww, that’s so unfair to the Robin.

Poor little guy. He doesn’t deserve such ill treatment! Of course, I am certain the eagle was meant for much more nefarious sorts!

Lovely poem. Little birds seem so vulnerable but they have their ways.
