Sat: Fireworks lit the laptop’s screen. Graphics chip. I’d bought a new machine the day before Lockdown closed our shops. But all had seemed well and so…
Sun: Powered the laptop. It groaned and whined. The fan. I persisted and meanwhile downloaded a year’s worth of Window’s updates to my new laptop.
Weds: Sister phone. My father has tested positive for Covid
Thurs: Phone call to say the owner of my property is selling. I have to find another home.
Apologies for not reading your posts. My life has become a crucible of late. I’ll catch up as soon as.
100 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Crucible.
Wow, Crispina! That’s a lot of stress to deal with all in one go. So sorry. How is your dad? Hope he’s doing okay. All the best and I how things improve for you soon

He’s holding out. Takes a lot to bring him down. And now, just to add to my week… I’m feeling rough with a head cold.
I will catch up with everyone. Thanks for your thoughts 🙂

Wow! All this for real? Or just your prompt response?

No, it’s all for real. And I suddenly remembered this morning that I hadn’t yet done this prompt so… He’s holding out.

Yea, thanks. Atn last check he seemed to be holding out. But he’s so stubborn, he wouldn’t let on if he wasn’t

I heard last night that his chest is clearing. We take that as a good sign

Stubborn to the last, my dad. That Covid would have to chip his fingers away from his chair before he’ll give in.

I’m sorry you have to find a new home! I’ll also say a prayer for your dad. I hope you don’t have a lot to move, and that you find something quickly! The good news is your computer works now so you can use it to look for a new place!

Thanks for your wishes. I don’t suppose I’ll be moving anytime soon. Not much available right now.

What will you do? Wait, was this a work of fiction?

Now work of fiction, this. I suddenly remembered I hadn’t done this prompt and it seemed to fit my circumstances rather too well.
I can answer you one thing, it’ll not be a swift move, and I cannot be forced. They have to find me somewhere. But that somewhere won’t be the historical building this is. Yet it could be warmer, with windows that see the sun. Bright side, hey.

Well, I’ll pray they find you a place just like that! 🙏🙏

Sorry to hear you’re having problems – it all comes at the same time doesn’t it? Hoping things improve soon.

Yea. Thanks. Slowly things resolve. Patience… that is my theme for this year!!!

Omigosh my friend! That is a helluva lot to deal with in one fell swoop of a week! Hope your dad and you feel better! Good grief.

Slowly resolving. Father’s lungs have survived (I hope that’s not tempting fate). Everything else.. in it’s own good time.
You might have noticed my theme this year is PATIENCE. And I laugh at the irony.. Me, patient? Hah!

Thank goodness. And for your father – that is fantastic. Slow and steady.
Is your theme patience? 😉

I couldn’t say… I’ve been rather sketchy on the WP front. So I’m half-assed paying attention .

Oh wow, when it rains it pours! I am so sorry to hear that you’re having to deal with all this stress! Do what you can, stay as calm as you can be, because what else can you do? I hope your father is okay, and I hope the rest all resolves well and quickly too.

I had a bad day of stress yesterday, swearing at the computer. It was my way of letting it out. Now I’m fine again. Chilled. Will handle whatever comes along

I’m just getting caught up myself and have nothing new to add to this thread except more prayers for all your situations. I was just thinking how much I enjoy your area via your photos. You’re right, though, you will get a brighter, warmer place nearby. Hope your dad continues to improve.

Oh my dear friend! I’m so sorry to hear that so much has happened all at once. I hope your father is feeling better and recovering. Thinking of you 🙂

My father seems to be making a good recovery. But the assisted living complex where he is is riddled with covid, staff and residents and he’s not allowed out of his flat and he sees nobody and it’s getting to him.

That’s great news! But I understand how the isolation is a problem. 😦

Hi Crispina! Wish that was all written for the prompt. Hope everything is fine by now. All the best for 2021.

No, it wasn’t written for the prompt. It’s the truth of that week. Things are beginning to improve. My father is pulling through. The laptop works! And I shall find somewhere else to live… maybe somewhere warmer, with better views from the windows
