The shape is no problem for me. But that smell! …

    • Redolent of rotten meat, so it’s said. But I don’t find it so. More… rotten vegetation. Which in late autumn is to be expected. Maybe it’s just my sense of smell.

Whichever it certainly offended my sensibilities. Though it was many years back and can’t recall the exact scent, I can visualise the wood we where we encountered it though. Odd thing, memory.

      • Our sense of smell is keenly involved in memory. The smell of may blossoms recalls acutely my first sexy kiss. And a certain aftershave will have me in tears in the memory of loss. As to the smell of beef stew… school dinners, vomitous! Can’t about McDonalds for same reason.

Not for me. My sense of smell is not very acute. An odour has to be pretty strong to register much.

      • I’ll put money on your brain registers it, but you’re not aware. Our brains do loads of stuff without telling us. They receive and react a half second before they tell us. I’m still trying to accommodate the full implications of that one. πŸ™‚

Doesn’t it figure that a phallic-shaped fungi would also stink?

Nice specimen! And actually not as anatomically accurate as some that I’ve seen. (snicker snicker)
