Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN
Here’s how it works:
Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE
Here are some suggestions:
- An answering photo
- A cartoon
- A joke
- A caption
- An anecdote
- A short story (flash fiction)
- A poem
- A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
- An essay
- A song—the lyrics or the performance
You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:
- Your creative offering is indeed yours
- Your writing is kept to 150 words or less
If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)
Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN.
A view of Breydon Water (at low tide) with Berney Arms Windmill (Norfolk)
Lovely picture. It carries me away, Crispina.

I thank you. It’s just at the back of town. It makes town-living bearable for a country-bred lass.

It just went back to sleep. At least until the sheepskin rots. You know Braydon Water better than I do. How long will that take?

The constant tides, and the mud, and what’s in that mud. Hmm, mightn’t take long. Best I wear asbestos gear next time I go along there.

I loved it. Especially the bit about Crisp not holding a note. I recognise that problem. 🙂

I think that aspect of life haunts most of us.

Oddly enough, i was the windmill that drew me first and perked my curiosity. Is this a harbour?

This is Breydon Water, so often mentioned in my posts. It’s the confluence of rivers Waveney and Yare (a third river joins it just as it reaches the town). The town is built on a mud bank that over the centuries has often tried to block the river’s flow. Needless to say, it is tidal.

Ah I see. One more question. Are there eels in it? Just for clarity, of course.

Not to my knowledge. In the Yare, Waveney and Bure, for sure, but not in the estuary. Though we do have a dragon or two. 🙂

OH MY! That doubles my curiosity! 😲

One of those dragons featured in a fantasy tale by fellow blogger Brian Bixby. I think that was in 2016, after his visit here. The other one lingers from the days when Vikings pulled into here with their dragon-headed ships (at least they linger in my imagination).

Actually, there are several. But they’re not cornmills. Until 1920s they were used to help drain the marshes. Now we have little deisel things, but some of the better preserved ones have been further preserved.

Breydon Water. My back yard. The place to go when I don’t feel like four bus journeys. But I’m no bird photographer, and that’s really what Breydon’s about. I’ve had some good sunsets here, and some good butterflies. And loads of Dutch-looking vistas. Like this one.
