Crimson’s Creative Challenge #45

Davey, did you bring that map?

Sure did, Jace. Why?

Did you check it out before you suggested the shortcut?

You didn’t, did you?

Why, what’s the prob?

That, over there, that’s the prob.

Is that the *isolated-back-of-beyond* Berny hired for his party?

Got it in one, Davey. Remember the invite? Boats and foot access only. And now you see why.

Best you look at that map. See where there’s a crossing.

. . .

Um… Fifteen miles upriver.

What about downriver?

That’s the sea.

Just remind me of this, next time you say *I know a shortcut.*

Guess that’s another FLAW?

Yeah, you and your Famous Last Words.

Men seldom make mistakes when it comes to directions and finding the way, even when we finally have to actually read the directions or, heaven forbid, consult a map. We do get there.

Yeah. Methinks Davey is not to be trusted in the future for his map savey.

  9. Great story. Davey does not a good navigator make, methinks!

    • FLAW arose while on holiday one year… probably South Downs. I’m great for suggesting we go a slightly different way, cos the views will be good, and it’ll be a short cut. And when we finally untangle the paths and get back on track, my daughter inevitably says, FLAW!
