The way is steep, the day is hot
A foot-weary slog to reach the top
I check my watch, what do I see?
Oh. it’s 12 o’clock!

I thank you. 🙂
Brief, but sweet. And it does record an actual event, walking from Acle to Blofield Heath via South Walsham. (Check it out on Google Maps) and passing through the villages once familiar to my paternal ancestors. Turned out to be a hot day.

I really like this–I could feel the heat and the stretch of the climb 🙂

Perhaps because it’s a true story? I walked it, I felt it. 🙂

Yep. I take my camera on my walks, and anything that, in the moment, I find inspiring. I snap. I then use these ohotos for this Challenge, though I also take photos of flowers and fungi. And bridges. Always bridges.

Excellent! And I love bridges too 🙂

I think its the symbolism, though never obvious, yet literally the briding between two entities. Or maybe it’s the arch. Though even straight bridges enchant me. The sense of strength maybe?

I’m not sure, but they are rich in symbolism and inspiration. As I type this I’m thinking that, even in our daily lives we have “bridges” to cross, or not…

You’re doing well on a hot day if by noon the water is still cold!

Luke warm. Yuk. But I now have a waterbottle that takes an ice-stick, It’ll still be warm by midday, you can bet on it.

So… no room temp water for you, eh?

No, usually warmer after a morning of walking in the summer. But at home, yea, like it cold.

Again, you’ve nailed it with the shorter form of writing. Not a word wasted; it conjures a very distinct picture and I felt I was there, walking up the steep hill too 🙂

Loads have remarked that they felt that climb, and thne heat. Maybe I was able to convey it so succinctly cos I walked that hill on a hot day. Gods, was I glad to sprawl in that grass, shoes off and enjoying that softness!
