Say “shadow” and we usually think of the shadow thrown by a standing object or person, as if shadow and object are one. Yet shadows are simply a lack of light, like where the sun don’t shine.

Not sure of species of tree; a maple of sorts. But I love the way its autumnal sun-yellow stands out against the deep shadows.

What I liked most about it was the way it hung down, and yet was horizontal, Like a hand held out. No limp flopping here.
