A medley of pics pulled from my archives (see Sunday’s post), taken on 14th September 2022. Enjoy…
🔼 It seemed, in the covid years, that every farmer had left a wide margin around their fields, sown with wildflowers. We do still find them, but not so many 🔽 Robin’s Pincushion is actually the work of a parasitic wasp. I don’t care, I like to see them
At the village pond 🔼 Alders and willows overhang the water 🔽 Guilder Rose with the leaves beginning to turn
🔽 I know these look like flowers but these are the berries of the Spindle tree. If caught right by the sun, their leaves blaze a deep magenta too
🔽 Someone asked for a butterfly to be included in Crimson’s Creative Challenge. So here you are.
🔽 The Conker season has surely begun
🔼 White Bryony, unrelated to the Black Bryony 🔽⏬ Both are poisonous
🔼 Mistletoe. Can’t resist a photo every time I see it 🔽 and Acorns ⏬ and Sloes
🔼 Looking more like a tropical rainforest than an English common. Great Horsetail and probably Black Bryony. Though it hasn’t berries 🔽 This shot clarifies it. This is Black Bryony.
And once again, that’s all for now, folks. Hope you enjoyed

I enjoyed looking at those berries 👍 Especially the berries of the spindle tree. I can imagine how deep magenta feathers look like if the sun caught the berries right. And the butterfly looks so pretty 🤩

It’s not been easy to include it in the Creative Challenge, cos I post it after the Challenge goes out. But this week I could so it because it’s included in the regular post

Love the spindle berries – gorgeous color and such a unique shape. A berry that pretty is probably poisonous!

You guessed it. In fact, every part of the spindle is poisonous (must be the spindle that sent Sleeping Beauty into her 100 yr snooze!)

The tree is called spindle cos in days past it was used to make spindles. I love the English language!!!!

Gotta love this time of year. Too late to call it summer. Too early yet to call it autumn. Harvest, that’s the best name for it

Yes definitely 🙌
