August First: Lughnasadh
When we make a start on gathering in Nature’s gain
But Nature’s only harvest will be rust
If the sky doesn’t soon give us plentiful rain
Cornucopia’s precious fruits will turn to dust
36 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Cornucopia

Wonderful piece and beautiful rosehips!

It’s sad. But it happens, and Nature recovers

Yes – I just one day fear it won’t 😕

Since Lufe began on this planet there has been far more extreme changes than anything we can inflict in our greed and ignorance. And Nature survives. Maybe not unchanged, but that’s the underpinning of evolution. I trust Nature. But I’m happy to allow the blind and the greedy to believe they’re to blame

Not as much as a drop. Forecasted. Doesn’t happen. 30 miles inland gets it. We don’t

Just dreadful. Hope that changes soon.

The drought was worse in 1976. We survived. But kids have been caught setting fire to the dry grasses. That’s the real disaster

Yes I remember that drought too yes it was so long lasting 16 month … unfortunately the temperatures are higher now.
Children setting fires .. is such a sad thing 💜💜

Not higher here. I remember spending my days wallowing in cool bath. And scraping tar and asphalt off kids shoes and clothes.

Apparently a village about 10 miles inland from me recorded the highest temp since 1976, but that was back in June. That’s records for Norfolk, not the entire country.
I saw a forecast that said well continue to get above seasonal norm right through until November. But that doesn’t mean extre.e temps, just higher than usual. Which could be pleasant. If only we had the rain!

Yes we need the rain we are set to having Temps up in the middle thirties again here in the week!

Out will wobble around the high 20s, and that’s with a cooling sea breeze. I couldn’t cope with being inland
