My daughter says she’ll never wed
Never wants to share her bed
Rather she’d sleep in a ditch
Be accused of being a hedgerow witch
I said I understand
But does that include a woman as well as a man
I blame it on the night she was born
During a Halloween thunderstorm
53 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Thunderstorm

Oh! I love this ! True or not it’s gorgeous!!? 💜💜💜

The only thing not true is my daughter wasn’t born at Halloween. But she was born at midnight, in a thunderstorm

I love this take 😂 I was genuinely confused at first… thought I’d clicked the wrong link… then that last line landed perfectly… Great link to thunderstorm!!

It’s true, my daughter was born in a thunderstorm. Not quite Halloween but a few days later. And at midnight!

Oh wow 😂 then your daughter really committed to the theme! A midnight thunderstorm entrance sounds wonderfully dramatic… honestly the universe gave her a cinematic birth scene from day one. 🌩️

I’ve always said that she is special. Strong minded, does her own thing.

I’ve got one too… strong-minded from birth 😅 The teenage years are going to humble me.

Strangely (or not) of my three daughters, her teen years were the easiest on my nerves!

As a man I am surley not totaly in accordance. Might I ask how old the girl was, was she well above a hundred or still in her early eightys?😉

And as my daughter, she could hardly be in her eighties. I haven’t reached that yet 😘

Thank you! I shared it through to Twitter where my daughter also has an account (although we keep quiet about our relationship). She liked it too!

We all make our choices. Good on her if that is what she has always wanted.
Very nicely done!

My mother was born on Valentine’s Day. Nice work, this. Thanks.

Isn’t Valentine’s like the opposite to Halloween?

To each his own! Perhaps that should be ‘to each her own’! 😆

I’d say the image carries a good 50% with these off-the-cuff poems.

ha..! that cracked me up…. i think i love my bed more than people comes to mind… it is a peaceful slumber where there is no snore vibrating throughout the night… but then again the soft snore of another can be so comforting too … loved the picture too

So often I’ve found getting the right graphic is what makes the poem work (but then, I trained as a graphic designer, so…. yea, I’m biased)
