Butterflies, Dragons and Damsels encountered on our walk to Tunstall Mills 26th August 2022. Enjoy
It’s a white, large or small, I couldn’t say πΌπ½ β¬ but this one’s a speckled wood, undeniable
πΌ Comma π½
Apologies, I can’t identify these lovers, πΌ other than to say one’s male, one’s female π½ and even seeing it alone, I’m still unsure what it is. My best guess is a Ruddy Darter
And if that’s a Ruddy Darter (male) πΌ π½
Then this π½is a Ruddy Darter female. But I could be wrong
And this is that done for another week.
Not sure how good the next catch will be. Forecast is for winds and these winged beings tend to stay low in high winds. We’ll see

I have never seen anything like the Comma- with the wings closed it rather resembles a fungus of some sort.

It’s weird, I do agree. And can you see the comma marked as if in white pen?

I just had to go back and look, what is that? It looks like a C.

Let’s call it a Roman comma. Except the Romans didn’t use punctuation!

Nature is beautiful! Comma looks like papyrus …. or tree bark. Love it!

I love to see how the underwings differ so much from the upper wings. Sometimes they don’t even resemble the same species

Thank you, Sadje. Alas, the butterfly season is drawing to a close. So sad

There’s still the odd one about, but not enough to make an entire post with the photos. So, yea, next year
