Dressed to the nines
Picture perfect for a sexy beast
Exactly right for a royal feast
Pelting down the lane in the rain
With slippers splashing in the puddles
Mud splattering up to my middle
And now I’m late for my clandestine date
Meeting at the seventh hour
I’d rather be home in my dry boudoir
56 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Boudoir

Because of the word restriction, I couldn’t get in that she was a Regency period ‘lady’.
Certainly, that secret assignation wouldn’t have been worth it once drenched and muddy

Such a shame I couldn’t get it all in those 56 words

It’s going to have a word or syllabic count to focuses the mind but it can be very restrictive 💜💜

I like the restriction. It works as a counter balance to my high wordcount fantasy novels

It’s certainly having that effect. The story I’m currently revising and editing is hovering around a mere 55k. That’s almost a novella, and only half my usual wordcount

That was last week, this is this week, and the wordcount is slowly escalating as I add depth to the story 🧐

What utter disappointment! Of course, you could always see if he was up to a shower date! hehehe

In my head, this was set in Regency period, and the assignation was in the woods. No showers.

too bad she felt compelled to go out dressed to the nines on such a rainy day. And where was her date? This is lovely, Crispína. Thank you

The wordcount removed so many details! Her secret assignation was in the woods, and she’s wearing a Regency gown and satin slippers
