CCC030: Lost in the Shallows

My friend, can you hear?
Are you still there?
The river came and took your shadow
Chilled me to my marrow
That someone can lose a shadow
In water that’s so shallow
But look you here, my dear
I see you beside me, year by year
You are not lost, that’s just my fear

I got stuck thinking about what it would be like to have a place that collected shadows. Hmmm, you always get me thinking…

  4. There’s something folk horror about this one Crispina.

Is your daughter now afraid of water after that incident, Crispina? It must have been quite a shock. Nice take.

    • No, not at all. It wasn’t the only water-related incident, either. First time she saw the sea she ran straight in! But she did learn to swim. And a few years back when we got caught out by an incoming tide, it was she who rescued me. Turn and turn alike!
