We never had trick and treat when I was a kid. But it had got a grip of the land by the time my children were old enough

I know. It was a North American thing. Glad it caught on across the pond, though 🙂

It probably caught on in the towns and cities much sooner than in rural areas, but I didn’t encounter it until I gave up country-dwelling!

I remember the first year I got ‘trick or treated.’ My sense of humour got the better of me. When the kids said their bit, I answered, ‘Tick’ and gave the kids a bag of Brussel sprouts. 🤪

I guess now that I think about it, Brussels Sprouts were a taste I acquired as an adult. In fact you inspired me. I am roasting some right now as I type.
