The butterfly count has been down this year. Too much rain. Too much wind. Their fragile wings have been battered and drenched. So I was delighted to see this Gatekeeper on this wonderfully bright and cheery Ragwort.

The changing climate has played havoc with the wildlife number

We’re beginning to see them again. But there’s also the farmers with their various sprays, and if not locally, then in their over-wintering grounds. It’s all very sad.

Lots of protest about them. I know we need food, and we also need housing which eats into the arable land, but we need beauty too to soothe our stressed-out souls

Exactly! Perhaps scientists c can find sprays that are not that deadly
