Sunday Picture Post: Our Solstice Walk, Curtailed

We knew from the weather forecast that catching a sunrise this solstice morning wasn’t exactly a sure thing. In fact, we didn’t know how far we’d get before our walk was rained-off. But we ventured out all the same.

Fingers crossed, come join us…

22nd December 2023

Eyes tracking along the shore. This is UK’s easternmost coast and it isn’t yet time for the sunrise

22nd December 2023

The sun should be rising to the southeast (that’s to right in the photo) but there is solid cloud. Instead, we’re getting colour to the northeast

22nd December 2023

But colour is colour, we’ll take it

22nd December 2023

Yet it would be good to see the sun…

22nd December 2023

And there it is, just as we retreat into the dunes! Time? 8:13, 10 minutes after sunrise

22nd December 2023

22nd December 2023

Was that rain I felt? Did you feel it too? Do we continue or do we head home?

22nd December 2023

We continue on to Bure Park where we hope to see swans and ducks and other waterfowl

22nd December 2023

Not forgetting the fat-trunked trees

22nd December 2023

Beyond that line lies the river Bure. Intention is to walk back to town along its bank. But first, the pond…

22nd December 2023

No swans. And too many people walking their dogs that scare the birds and the ducks take flight

22nd December 2023

And of a sudden the wind is whipping around us and the rain’s hammering down and fast, fast, let’s catch a bus home.

Hope you enjoyed, and that you didn’t get as wet as we did! I’ve included the dune-photos in Tuesday Treats. You’ll see why come Tuesday.

The colours you did capture are marvellous! Too bad you got stuck in the rain. You did, however, manage to capture some great images!
