Solstice Fire

My photo

Solstice morning. But Jill still had her chores. First was to fetch the water. It was still dark when she collected the bucket, slipped her feet into the wooden-soled shoes and clattered across the frosted cobbles to the well.

The catch to the cover was frozen. Jill breathed long and hard on it and still it wouldn’t budge. Wretched freezing weather.

But when she turned and saw the sun’s Solstice rays on the window, suddenly she wasn’t so cold.

  2. It seems so really … which is why the story is touching. Cheers to the sun delivering a sense of hope.

That was sweet. We have such mild weather right now, not too much is frozen shut! That reflection is a beauty!
