21st November 2023. More rain, though with a promise of getting out brighter. We hop a bus. We’re visiting two different woodlands. Neither are extensive, both are managed by local communities. But one serves more as a walk-through from here to there, the other as a destination. So don the waterproofs and let’s go…
Taking photos despite the drizzle that’s muting the autumnal colours
Everywhere’s flooding; as well this woodland is bordered by a drainage channel
We leave that woodland and cross this field…only to discover the water is laying deep across it, hidden by the grass
Heading to the next woodland. For now it’s stopped raining. My walking shoes have proven themselves fully waterproof!
A disused railway separate the parishes
Brighter climes ahead!
My favourite woodland pool
This woodland is more open… more light to see those colours
But more holly then darkens the view
And here comes the rain again. This time heavy. Time to put the equipment away and go find a bus.
Hope you enjoyed our walk though so overcast and misty. Maybe next week’s photos will be brighter and sharper!

How brave of you to walk in the rain and cold weather. Love these pictures

I get so restless if I don’t get out and it’s been so wet. So we take our chances. Glad you like. Makes it worth getting wet! π

You cannot be called a sissy! Good for your waterproof shoes and thank you for all the lovely pictures you were willing to trek in the mud and wet for!

And having said that, I’ve just had 2 weeks with no walks. Not because of weather, though. My daughter who walks with me has started a new job and I thought it might be unfair on her to drag her through mud and brambles on an already taxing week. Then this week we did the Christmas visits. Fingers crossed for next week. It’ll be on the Solstice. So unless it’s tipping it down or blowing fierce gales we’re heading down to the beach!

And you are smart to not go alone.
Christmas visits? What does that entail?
Hopefully the weather cooperates so you can go next week π

Delivery cards and presents, catching up with news. Huggy-kissy stuff. Lots of laughter. Too much coffee and not enough fresh air. And so far weather next Thurs looks good. Maybe a “bit” windy. π
