13th June, we walked from Hellington Corner, across country to the nature reserve to which TV Naturalist Ted Ellis devoted his life. Now to enter…
This is fenland, which means wet… a gridwork of channels helps keep the walking dry
Large areas of open water attract wildfowl in season…apparently this isn’t the season, although there are moorhens here (hiding)
A *wet* meadow thick with meadowsweet
Those channels are a haven for all kinds of wildlife…
Wooden walkways allow the visitor to remain dry-shod. Mostly
We can hear the creak of ropes and sails before we can see it. I hadn’t realised how close we were to the river
River Yare forms the eastern boundary to the reseve
A wide swathe cuts through the reeds…
And another wooden walkway through a wet woodland. It’s hot and steamy out there. We’re glad of the shade, a welcome respite before crossing the barley fields again
And that’s all folks for now. Hope you enjoyed.
Don’t forget to check out Tuesday Treat when we witness a truly magical event
Everything is so beautifully green. Lovely walk, Miss Crisp!

That’s because everything is so beautifully green. We’ve had a lot of rain and not too much searing heat. But the heat situation changes this week

I cleared out my front garden of weeds. I was surprised at just how dry it is, considering we got lots of water last week… goes to show.
