Forgive me for borrowing a quote: September rains bring October fungi. Except these photos were taken in September, after the very wet weekend of 26th & 27th (most were found along Marriotts Way). Enjoy…
The observant might notice the cobweb spread beneath this fungus, its strands catching the fungus’ spores
And as a reminder of what day this was…
Lovely images. You know, I took a walk with Zeke the other day and found myself looking for fungi (your fault). Not a one to be found. Guess it wasn’t as wet as I thought in that area!

If the aear is regularly tidied, branches, twigs and other debris removed, fungi will be scarce to find. I go to “managed” woodlands. Managed means the debris is cleared from the paths but otherwise left alone to do its own thing… which is to be eaten away by fungi

No. It’s not tidied outside of the official paths… I just haven’t spotted any as of yet.

Ah, but you haven’t had an entire month’s rainfall in one day like we did at the end of September!

Thank you. So many of the fungi look so much alike, but I do try to keep it varied.

Fabulous fungi. I was looking through last year’s photos yesterday and remembered what a bumper year it was for fungi this time last year.
